"Some women want to control THEIR man so none of his energy will go toward another woman thus short changing her and her offspring."

That's true!

It's funny because if Daddy goes to see a hooker, Mommy will be pissed off for sure - but she won't be THAT angry....
BUT if Daddy manages to hook up with a nubile 18-year old nymph who lives two doors down, who gives sex away for NOTHING.... Oh my god, Mommy won't be happy.
Her power base will be threatened! Daddy will now have no incentive to stick around at all!

As long as the meme is maintained.... that sex costs money and women are somehow allowing men to have some.... we will continue to see messed up relationships between the sexes.
It's a paradigm that doesn't work for anyone. There's no reason why two people cannot decide to have children and look after them without all the nonsense.

I think this article is spot on, and I honestly think Japan is not a cost effective place to pursue a relationship, nor are the rewards here.

I still go out with Japanese of course, but its interesting that the Chinese girl I also date always offers to pay half and most of the Japanese dont. This is truly bizarre as Japan is supposed to be a rich country.

Conclusion #1 Japan isnt a rich country, in fact. Or its just completely screwed up.

A few weeks ago I met a girl in the station, she actually came up to me quite brazenly. She was a yoga instructor and was excited to meet me, she said, because she used to live in NY. She then started calling me several times a day. In her first email to me, she said that she was now looking for a commitment, and her friend had introduced her to various bankers and doctors, but they were not her type.

But then, it got psychotic. she said she was seeing a psychologist for anorexia, and he told her not to live in a foreign country or (thus) marry a foreign man, because her anorexia had started when she lived in NY. Something to do with dating a Russian drug dealer ant aged 18 there.

She said she was interested in Taiwanese dramas and music, so I said in passing "Perhaps you should live in Taiwan someday. It is a little similar to Japan in some ways".

The response I got was truly weird: "you are trying to tell me what to do like I am some kind of doll. I dont like Taiwan (sic), in fact my cousin is half-Taiwanese and I felt something different in him from Japanese, and I didnt like that."

She then decided on the basis of this conversation-that perhaps she did not want to marry me after all..(!) Ironically, she prattles on about peace and yoga, and her email is "happy" but this is what she WANTS to be. I d hate to be one of her students!

Conclusion #2. There are a lot of traumatized women in Tokyo, and one never knows when they are going to just snap for the slightest reason. I'd hate to be married to a woman like this, but I have to say this is not the first time. Its not even the hundredth time.

I for one, am leaving. I dont mind paying for dinner but in retardedly expensive Tokyo, all things considered, it is just not worth it.

Marriage is not strictly transactional. In fact, it is simply a deeper form of friendship. Husband and wife share with each other things that they would not share with others. A sense of exclusivity is essential to making a marriage work. "Relationship", not "transaction" is the key word here. In fact, "transactions" occur to help keep the "relationship" together, not the other way around.

After all, there is no universal benchmark to guarantee an absolutely objective evaluation of a person's eligibility for marriage. The "benchmark" varies from culture to culture and it goes beyond a measure of what husband and wife have that is of worth to the clans (I mean, parties) involved. Of course, economics and social prestige trump love and mutual trust most of the time, but this because in cultures where such is the mindset survival and advancement of the family unit as a whole takes precedence over everything else. So, if a lovely woman marries a guy she is not in love with, ask yourselves if she is satisfied simply with fulfilling social expectations and adhering to the will of the family as whole.

In the end, the aforementioned "exclusivity" carries with it the implication that both husband and wife are vulnerable to each other, in a way that they would not be with anyone else, expect maybe their parents. Of course it is likely that whatever secrets are held by each side, but trust is to be established between both partners. As long as each side keeps being clannish about his/her personal life or expecting disclosure of one side's personal business to be a right rather than a privilege, there will always be marital problems.

Women seek sex just as much as men, but for different reasons. Men love women to get sex and women have sex to get love. The men that get and keep the women are those who go beyond their primal urge to reproduce and do their best to please the woman from start to finish, regardless of the outcome. I am not advocating that men should suck up to women, but that they should take time to understand the woman on a one-on-one basis -- and be confident while doing it.

And if the man or woman do not take time to love the whole person instead of loving only one part thereof, he/she almost deserves to be abandoned in favor of another partner.

"So anyway, women are socialized against their natural instincts, and then men wonder why women are the way they are!"

I'd say a very one sided set of thoughts. I'd also say that it works the other way around as well. Some women want to control THEIR man so none of his energy will go toward another woman thus short changing her and her offspring.
